From my own collection of beautiful vintage slips comes this little gem:
Gorgeous authentic vintage glossy satin and lavish lace, half slip ~ petticoat from the 1970s from St Michael (now Marks and Spencer) from when their items were all made in the United Kingdom.
This is a stunning prettily flared half slip which has lots of sumptuous, shimmering cream Chantilly lace and is so very innocent looking yet utterly sexy due to the butter soft silky glossy poly satin fabric that it is made of, a delightful fabric with the most incredible shine, looking almost 'wet' in appearance...'liquid satin' as some like to call it! You won't be able to resist runing your hands over and over the delicously silky satin material which looks like real silk ..in fact I had to look at the label twice to make sure it was not actualy real silk it looks and feels so much like it! but you get the washability of artificial silk with the stunning smooth handle of silk charmeuse satin.
This adorable underskirt posesses beautiful, timeless elegance and an inherence feminine sensuality to it. It is perfect for the lover of layered petticoats and would look stunning over, or under sevearl other satin or nylon lacy slips for you 'layering' afficionados who know the delights of silky fabric against silky fabric!
The waist has very ruched zig zag deep elastication & pearlised picot loops, and with that lovely plushy fabric behind it next to skin, for your total comfort whilst wearing... it almost looks like a little frill at the top it so gathered! The hem is lovely with exquisite lace which has been stitched expertly in shimmery tracery creating the most delicate of blooms and garlands and letting skin peek through the resseau net background. There are three stitched decorative lines near the lace and yet more narrow lace trim of a different kind with a pretty silky satin ribbon bow which has a sweet little 'faux seed pearl' in the center.
You cannot fail to adore this petticoat and you really need to feel and see it in real life to realise how utterly smooth it is and to experirence all that vanilla cream silkiness slithierng through your fingers.
Pristine white, red and yellow old fashioned St Michael label is still crip and reads: "extra small to small. To fit 32-33" hips. Cream. 100% polyester. Made in the UK"
MEASUREMENTS:
Label says this is a size xs-small. UK petticoat. However it should also fit larger sizes as St Michael's sizes used to be cut quite on the large size compared to other retailers at the time this slip was made (Vanity Sizing! :-)
Waist measures 20" stretching to 36"
Hips: Label says to fit 32/33 hips but the actual measurement is a lot more generous than label suggest at 42" stretching to just over 43" approx.
Length: A cute 25" long from waist to flirty swirly lacy hem.
Lace and garland detail at hem in total: 3" deep
Such a pretty, feminine, vintage vanilla cream, glossy satin silk like petticoat! Only one so don't miss out on it!
