Shona Tribal History "Descended from the people who lived in the city of Great Zimbabwe in the 14th century, the Shona speaking people are known for their production of neck rests called Mutsago, which have a rectangular upper platform which curves up towards the ends. There are a number of styles - the eastern relating to the Manyika peoples, with two sets of triangles and the north-central style, related to the KoreKore people with triangular and circular motifs separated by horizontal lines. Contemporary Shona carvers have developed a significant production of soap-stone figures characterized by smooth and abstract features," according to Bacquart.
