SHERMAN Sign~AURORA LAYERED RHINESTONE Vintage BROOCH

Stunning and high quality vintage rhinestone brooch signed by Gustave Sherman.  Three sparkling layers of marquise and chaton crystal rhinestones with Shermans signature Aurora Borealis finish that flash with pink/lavender blue /amethyst tones. All original stones, claw set in gold plated metal. The 'sparkle' from this brooch is beautiful, (the camera had a real problem with it all) Sherman is recognised as Canada's premier vintage jewellery designer who created the lovliest pieces of the finest costume jewellery between 1947- 1980.  His vintage jewels are now highly sought after and collected internationally. Only first quality Swarovski crystal stones and crystal beads were ever found in Sherman jewelry. This brooch displays all his unique design charcteristics with the Hook & Eye construction - exactly the same type found on Schreiner pieces. The technique was used to join layered components without soldering them together. Signed Sherman in script on an oval nameplate which is found on earlier pieces (1950s) while the square plate was introduced in the 1960s.  This lovely brooch is in very good vintage condition with all original stones, pin and clasp work fine, a little  expected wear to the gold plated back. Measures 4.5cm -1.75" across and stands around 1.5cm high. Superb vintage brooch from one of 'the' best designers, with an elegant and timeless appeal this would be a perfect 'special' gift.
