Series 3 Land Rover, Short Wheel Base, fitted with Essex V6 conversion. We bought this back in 2001.
The previous owner had had the following work done by Stavspeed Engineering in 1998:- Essex V6 Engine fitted, with a re-ground crank, new standard pistol rings, new oil pump and water pump. The engine was fitted with a Steve Parker conversion kit. At the same time, it had a brand new "Super Winch" over-drive fitted, free wheeling hubs, new shock absorbers and springs. Long Wheel base brakes, fitted with master cylinder and brake servo. New front axle swivel hubs.
It had stood in his garden for a year unused, when we bought it.
Since we have had it we have done the following over a period of time, even though we have never had it on the road ourselves:-
Fitted new rear cross member, outriggers and fuel tank, stripped chassis, hammerighted and under sealed Fabricated 'pipe' bumper with twin tow balls and fitted a steering guard. Fitted chequer plate floors, in cab and buck. Defender Mirrors fitted. Two speed electric fan fitted to radiator. Jump start socket/winch power socket, mounted on front. Starter motor rebuilt last year. Extended shackles. New fuel lines fitted, front to back, with facet fuel pump. Gauges fitted in cab. Clock, vacuum, oil pressure, rev counter and amp meter(not wired in) Carburettor stripped, cleaned and rebuilt with new parts, also a manual choke conversion was fitted. New coil, cap, condenser, rotor arm and HT Leads fitted.
Due to change of plans, not really wanting to put it on the road, I decided to use it off road. So I moved the fuel tank into the back, fitted rock sliders, fitted alligator style tyres and remote air filter.
We have used it once on the 28th December 2008 at Bures Pit, off road and it was great fun. The bad points are:- While using off road, the oil pressure dropped, I stopped it immediately and haven't done anything to it since. Still starts and runs very well, but when warm, the oil pressure drops.
With a small amount of work, this would be a brilliant vehicle for off-roading.
Only selling due to lack of storage and new project. Cash upon collection preferred. This is a UK sale only. Any questions, please ask. We could possibly deliver, but please email first. If you wish to view, please email.
