This beautiful, delicate and special box is of Indian origin and incorporates a stylized Om or Aum design inlaid in brass in the lid. Om is the most sacred symbol of Hinduism. It means oneness with the supreme, the merging of the physical being with the supreme. It is the sound of the infinite, the first sound of the almighty.
It also hides two secrets:
- Firstly: the box cannot be opened unless the secret method is known.
- Secondly: a small, hidden secret compartment exists under the main internal box.
The box itself is constructed from a delicate, strongly-grained, lightweight wood with a reddish finish. The lid opens to 90º on two hinges.
