Like my other Ian Fleming first editions currently listed on eBay, this rare book comes with my exclusive iron-clad Money Back Promise: I absolutely guarantee that the book you are bidding on is the TRUE 1st edition of THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN published by Jonathan Cape in 1965. If you find that the book is not a true first edition simply return it to me within 7 days and I will issue a full refund of the auction price and postage within 24 hours. |
The book is in very pleasing Very Good + condition with all pages intact and present with none missing and no loose pages, all are bound securely. The boards are almost immaculate and very clean, immaculate in fact, with barely a blemish with just a touch of very minor edging and very minor shelfwear. The gilt lettering to the spine is perfect and intact. Just the way it was meant to look. The book has a minor lean, but is otherwise darn fine! There is an small and neatly written inscription to the front endpaper, but nothing to write home about, the rest of the pages are clean and crisp with one or two minor blemishes.
A very nice book, all in all.
The genuine, first edition dust wrapper (dust jacket) is a true 1st jacket, NOT a facsimile, in Very Good condition + and just as pleasing as the book; bright, vibrant, a very nice clean original wrapper with some wrinking to the flaps and one or two minor cuts and nicks. The front flap is a little worn and the rear flap has been replaced and reattached, but this is not very noticeable (unless you look for it) and it is a nice original wrapper nonetheless.

People purchase books for all sorts of reasons. Many people simply love books. Others see rare titles as investment opportunities. In 1996, a collectable first hardcover Virginia Woolf To The Lighthouse, published by Hogarth Press in London, was valued at £350. Today that same book is worth £12,500 (approximately $25,000). Ten years ago, a first John Steinbeck Of Mice and Men was worth £100 but is today worth £1,500 (almost $3,000.)
Ian Fleming's first edition James Bond books have also seen huge variations in price, in just the past couple of years. In 2005, collectable copies of the Jonathan Cape first edition of Diamonds are Forever were valued at £850. Just two years later, the value of this first edition has almost doubled to £1,500. Two years ago the first edition of The Spy Who Loved Me was valued at £250. Today that same book is worth £450.
From Casino Royale to Live and Let Die, Diamonds are Forever to From Russia With Love, each James Bond book represents an investment for the future, with many Bond books, like Moonraker and Live and Let Die, fetching up to £7,500. With a new film - Quantum of Solace - on the way, and another Bond film on the way after that, the value of REAL first edition Bonds looks set to increase even further!
Place a bid now and secure this THE MAN WITH THE GOLDEN GUN as a great addition to your collection, an investment for many years to come - or the perfect gift!
