This ritual Gold Pectoral Necklace and Gold Pectoral Amulet is a complete set attributed to Sarmatian Tribal Ruler (King) of Persian descent that lived approximately 2000 years ago.

The Necklace is beautifully decorated with ornaments, dotted pattern triangles, seven Carnelian (cornelian) stones and most important symbol, the two birds, each one at both ends.

The Necklace is in very good condition, completely intact. Its structure consists of a single solid gold sheet cover that sits on internal silver-alloy frame.

The Gold Necklace was worn directly on the chest (hence Pectoral) to display power and wealth of the bearer. Throughout various civilizations gold pectoral necklaces always represented a symbol of power.

Special attention must be paid to the most distinct image on this necklace, the two symbolic birds. Their style and the way they are depicted show traces of Post-Sumerian culture (1500 – 100 B.C.) that was carried by Persian and Sarmatian tribes.

The Gold Pectoral Amulet is another treasure on its own. With five Cornelian stones set on a decorated gold sheet cover the entire composition rests on a silver-alloy amulet base. There is a slight damage seen on the entire amulet primarily on the top left corner and on the central cornelian stone. Amulet was completely preserved by experts from National Restoration Center of Lithuania (European Union).

The fact that these two artifacts survived to this day as a pair makes them a truly rare archeological discovery.

Rarity of these artifacts is very high. There are very few pectoral gold necklaces of this age in the world, all of which are located in recognized National Museums. A pair of fully intact Gold Pectoral jewelery that belonged to a tribal leader that lived more than two thousand years ago is extremely rare.

Necklace size: 28 x 15 cm
Amulet size: 8 x 5 cm

This is the only Gold Pectoral Necklace and Amulet in private ownership and currently available for sale worldwide.

RARITY: Sarmatian gold artifacts are very rare. Many people mistake them for Scythian items which are just as valuable but are in much more abundance. The rarity of Sarmatian artifacts comes from their burial traditions. Sarmatians lived in steppe of Eastern Europe and Asia and did not make kurgans (burial grave hills) leaving very little visual trace of their civilization. Simply discovering their artifacts in vast grasslands of Eurasia is very difficult for archaeologists. Second rarity factor is that Samarians were not known for the use of gold even by royalty, so any gold artifacts that are attributed to Sarmatians are of very high importance from both cultural and financial perspective.

SCIENTIFIC DISCOVERY: During the restoration of Sarmatian Gold Necklace expert restorers from Lithuanian Art Museum Restoration Center found ancient technology (tree resin dielectric insulator) that no one knew existed before. This discovery allows to state that Sarmatian Gold Necklace holds high scientific and historical value.

FAME: In 2004 Sarmatians were made famous by Hollywood after release of the movie “King Arthur” staring Clive Owen. The film portrayed King Arthur (played by Clive Owen) as half Sarmatian who, along with other Sarmatian warriors served the Roman Empire in Britain.
