This is a rare piece of work from my Edward Bledsoe collection.
This is an one of a kind, original signed by Edward Bledsoe.
This piece measures at 12 1/2 by 9 1/2 inches.
Edward did this piece in 1989 as a favor to me, when I asked him to do a piece about Christmas with a sense of humor.
Edward Bledsoe learned to paint when he was in Angola Prison, South Louisiana. He and I met one day when he came to where I had a space in a mall and offered a piece of art to me, shortly after that he started working for me and did many paintings, portrait work and other work as an artist.
There were many days that people came and sat in my shop and watched Edward paint, he had a unique personality and was quite willing to share his stories about his life in prison.
Later Edward died rescuing a friend in a house fire, his life was full of trials and there were many occasions that he struggle with the reality of life, he could not read or write.
I spoke at his funeral, and it was amazing how many people knew him and came to love him during his life time. There were many news paper articles written about him and he was quite a celebrity in the community. He died in Shreveport, Louisiana in 1999.
