In past times similar medallion's Russian peoples usually use at a little home iconostasis.They was created from selected bronze or painted icons and crosses. According Russian Orthodox church traditions each medallion of this hinged icon was also used as a separate icon.Very nice small icon! Condition more than excellent! All images clear and visible!
