This hardback is in lovely clean condition - it has large thick pages

No scribbling anywhere

Rupert Bear is a children's character who features in a series of books based around his adventures. The character was created by the artist Mary Tourtel and first appeared in the Daily Express on 8 November 1920. Rupert's initial purpose was to grab sales from rival newspapers. Since then he has become significant to children's culture in the Uk.  In 1935 the mantle of Rupert artist and storyteller was taken over by Alfred Bestall, who was previously an illustrator for Punch Magazine and other glossy magazines. Bestall proved to be successful in the field of children's literature and worked on Rupert stories and artwork into his 90s. Since then various other artists and writers have continued the series, which still runs to this day
