A mint condition bagpipe banner to the British Army’s Royal Gurkha Rifles Regiment

For those who may not be familiar, a bagpipe banner is a ceremonial accoutrement tied to the bass drone of the highland bagpipes and is normally used in the military during parade, high profile or state functions.

The present item is embroidered with golden and silver colour bullion threads with the Silver Fringe...  Carrying the RGR Regimental Badge on two side...

It is believed that  a certain former British Commander Officer of the regiment had donated the banner to the regiment’s pipes and drums at the time of his retirement from the army.

It was made in Hong Kong when the RGR was base in Hong Kong with the British Garrison during 1980-90's.

I obtained this banner from a Military Auction at COD in Hong Kong prior to the handover of Hong Kong’s sovereignty from the United Kingdom to China in 1997...  It was left behind by the regiment’s rear party after it was relocated to its new home in the United Kingdom.

Its historical values aside, a pipe banner like this, framed or not, would make an excellent display at home or office.
