Royal Doulton Lustre Ware Twin Handled Rectangular Tray/Dish decorated with a Series Ware pattern titled "Chivalry". This scene features a young lady in an old-fashioned dress sitting on a wall in the garden with with a male serenading her and a female handing her a gift with a dog to the side. There is blue hedging and green trees in the background, with the edging in gold, designed by W Nunn.On the base is the Royal Doulton,England backstamp with the special backstamp Chivalry, the pattern number D5030 indicates that the bowl was introduced in 1930 and it was withdrawn in 1945. There is also an impressed datemark 6-30 indicating that it was manufactured in June of 1930. The piece measures 28.5cm from handle to handle and stands 4.2cm tall. There is light age crazing comensurate with its age,2 very minor rub marks to the edge and a little roughness which occured during the manufacture(as photographed, otherwise is in excellent condition with no cracks or other damage. We have not seen many pieces in this series and we think that it is probably a rare pattern, being sold without reserve.
