Royal Doulton Figurine: 'Gwendolen' (HN1503) - circa 1932
This is a delightful early Royal Doulton figurine entitled 'Gwendolen' (HN1503), circa 1932.
The figurine was designed by Leslie Harradine and first issued in 1932, it had been withdrawn by 1949. This is a very early example with the date code for 1932. The lovely piece measures 6 inches high and takes the form a 17th century lady seated wearing a pink and green dress holding a posy of flowers in her hand. Note: Some reference book show that this colourway as HN1494.
On the underside is the printed Royal Doulton factory mark and detail as shown in the photograph. The figure five alongside the factory mark is the date code for 1932.
The item is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks or restorations. The decoration is bright and vibrant with no sign of wear, rubbing or crazing.
