Royal Albert "American Beauty" Tennis Set..







A Royal Albert tennis set in the "American Beauty" pattern. Decorated with pink roses and foliage and powder gilding on the edges. The cup is about three inches/ 7 cm. tall and  the saucer about seven inches/ 18 cm. long.

I have two doubts about these, which I mention for the sake of accuracy. The saucer is small for a tennis set and has an indentation at one corner. It might well have been designed as an ash tray. This, of course, makes it a rare item! The well in the saucer is slightly larger than the foot of the cup. Not a great amount but just enough to put a doubt in the mind as to whether they started life together. 

They have no cracks or chips and the gilding is in good condition.

Pretty little things. I hope someone can give them a good home.
