Ancient Japanese Art
This beautiful Japanese canvas comes on genuine artist’s canvas (not a paper derivative). Japanese artworks are created on the highest quality genuine archival canvas, producing stunning reproduction detail and colour (where present).

The canvas is sized 300mm by 210mm. A larger version at twice the size can also be purchased instantly through our eBay shop (details below). The artwork shown has been reduced and compressed for display purposes on this page, and so does not do justice to the actual quality of the canvas. The frame is for illustrative purposes only.

Artist

Taiso Yoshitoshi (1839-1892)

Yoshitoshi proclivities led him to gruesome blood and guts styled art, although he also produced many gentle and graceful pieces. This dark side reflects the state of the nation at the time, following the massacre at Ueno (which the artist saw in person).
In struggled in later life with mental illness, and died on the 9th June, 1892, aged 53, from a cerebral hemorrhage.
