Romanesco Cauliflower 1000 + Seeds

This Italian Romanesco cauliflower is a visually stunning light green vegetable which has tight florets that grow is into a perfect spiral, each floret going to make-up the larger spiral that is the whole head. Not quite a calabrese and not quite a cauliflower some describe it as a cross between cauliflower and broccoli. Romanesco has a milder and sweeter flavour compared to white cauliflower and broccoil. Can be eaten raw with dips and salads, steamed as a main vegetable, try roasting in the oven with a little olive oil, salt and pepper you will be amazed at the change of flavor and texture. Use in place of starches such as roast potatoes


Romanesco is a brassica and general brassica instructions should be followed. Sow your romanesco seeds indoors from March until August. Plant out when seedlings are 10cm high with a good leaf growth. Space in rows 40x 60cm.
The romanesco are as difficult to grow as cauliflowers and will require careful cultivation to produce well. I have found that the trick of good cauliflowers and romanesco is a good watering for the first four weeks after being tanspalnted out.
Tolerant to heat the romanesco does well as a summer crop to mature during the cooler days of autumn. Maturity 85 - 90 days
