In January of this year, Rickenbacker announced that this model was going to be discontinued, so the only new ones left are the ones already on order -- and even those are almost all gone. This bass is basically brand new, made in 2009. It was purchased and returned. I've looked it over pretty thoroughly, and it is 100% flawless. This bass has one of the sweetest fireglo finishes you'll come across. They're cranking out some beautiful fireglos at the factory these days, deep, beautiful hue around the borders, and not too light (or pink) in the middle.

The 4001C64 is a replica of Paul McCartney's bass when he received it: toaster neck pickup and horseshoe bridge pickup, reversed headstock (because Macca is a lefty and his bass has a righty headstock, so this righty bass has a lefty headstock), vintage style tailpiece, plexi truss rod cover, vintage knobs, unbound dot neck and unbound contoured body -- all of the sought-after features you'd find on an original 1964 4001s (or 1999RM, depending on your viewpoint). This bass weighs in at 9lbs 4oz and comes with the oreiginal hardshell case.
