A simple and elegant form, with a fascinating stone.

The brooch is an elongated open oval, with a smaller oval in silver wire floating above it and framing a trapezoid cabochon stone.  The outer oval is tarnished or oxidised.

The claw-set stone is dark in colour, brown-black on the outside with shaded stripes of olive green in the middle.  It displays the chatoyancy characteristic of tiger's eye.   Research suggests that it is hawk's eye - a precursor to tiger's eye in its geological formation.

The stone measures about 1 inch by 7/8 inch and the brooch as a whole is 2 1/8 inches longand 1 1/8 inches broad.  It fastens with a straight pin and secure rolling catch.

The back is stamped Sterling and WWL.  There are no indications of country of origin, though the styling suggests Israel.
