Retro Ekornes (Stressless) Rio fixed back armchair

This is a retro or vintage Ekornes (makers of Stressless) Rio armchair in brown leather and teak coloured wood with an adjustable headrest.

The back is fixed, not reclining, and gives firm and stable support to the back. This chair is is surprisingly good condition for its age, and gives an indication of the quality of the leather used in this older furniture. There is a miniscule amount of fine cracking to the  surface of the leather on the seat area, and it is slightly shinier than it was when it was new. It is definitely leather, because I have undone the zip on the cover and looked at the back. It is is SUCH good nick that even I was unsure that it was real leather!

Normally the wood on these chairs is beech, but on these older ones I think they used other woods, and this one looks like an oak grain, although I'm no expert and I can't be sure. (I just like real wood!)

All in all this is a super, strong, stable and comfortable chair that would grace any area in the house. It will even come apart for easy pick-up in a normal car. Like a lot of the non-reclining Ekornes furniture it is fixed with hex key bolts. Easy to use and secure.

I am really impressed with this chair, and I think that there are lots of years left in it.
