A set of six stainless steel dessert or salad knives, made by Viners of Sheffield. Designed by the great silversmith Gerald Benney, for Viners - this pattern is called Studio. Studio consists of Modernist shaped business ends, with long, elegant handles, decorated with Benney's trademark bark-effect texture. It was a groundbreaking design of its time, and is still popular today.
These knives are a contemporary Studio pattern, which is now discontinued. Please see my second photo for the pattern differences - the top pattern is Modern Studio, the bottom is the original 1960s/1970s version. The shape and weight of the utensils, is the same.
These are brand new, unused pieces, 5 of which are still in their protective plastic sleeves. They are marked to the blade:- with a logo of a lion & shield, and the word:-"VINERS". Measuring approximately 8" long - great for increasing the size of a set of Studio, or replacing worn pieces. They fit in very well with a vintage set, and would be great for everyday use, whilst keeping the original Studio flatware for best!
