A handsome piece of Scrimshaw (reproduction resin artefact, but very well done for all that)- some 23" long, this repro Walrus tooth serves to remind us of the whaling trade of the 19th century. You can see that the item features engravings of walruses, an early version of the Stars and Stripes, a whaling scene complete with icebergs and cartouches displaying the name of the ship I suppose "The Whaler Prince" and "Taken from Dead walrus Oct 17 1841" by "1st Mate T. Bowers". It is very nicely engraved nonethe less, and offered here simply as what it is - a well executed and good looking repro artefact. Will be well packed to secure safe arrival.
