René Lalique created this bottle in 1924 for Worth, not for a particular fragrance but as his flagship container for large volumes such as Eaux de Toilette and Eaux de Cologne... From there the large "W" on the stopper. The same bottle was also used for "Dans la Nuit" with a different stopper showing a moon crescent and the name molded in raised glass.
The bottle was made in 3 sizes, this one being the middle one: 5.6" tall and 4.2" in diameter. The stopper is sealed without any possibility to open it, which probably explains the bottle's excellent condition with no leak or trace of humidity. The words "LALIQUE" and "FRANCE" are molded in raised letters on the bottom. The cord around the neck is still there and flows down on the globe.
The bottle is referenced and photographed in the "Lalique Bible", the book by Félix Marcilhac, on page 952 of the 2004 French printing, under the reference "Worth 5". The book always mentions when a bottle was kept in production after 1947, which is not the case for this one.
The condition is excellent
