This van has been specifically converted to create the ultimate multi-purpose vehicle.
Why we converted it Having developed our own Trafic over the past 2 years, we have enjoyed making it as versatile and quick to set up as possible. Due to the comments of fellow campers, we decided to buy this van to convert using all that we have learned to make camping as easy and comfortable as possible.
Why a Trafic? We chose a Renault Trafic 1.9dCi because they give more internal living space than most other popular camper vans. Research suggests that the Trafic is a very safe, reliable and, with its 6 gears is a relatively economical vehicle, not to mention car park barrier friendly, even with its roof bars on.
Why this layout? Whilst searching online for similar campers we found that most vans appear to have a permanent kitchen up one side. In our opinion, this leaves the bed too narrow and we wanted to create a more comfortable sleeping experience, whilst leaving maximum usable space for daily activities. From the photos you will see that there is seating for 5 adults all with 3 point seat belts. However, for more spacious camping or travelling, the central rear seat can be quickly removed.
Camping Set-Up Because this van is the long wheel based version the double bed can be left up when moving between sites. The IKEA mattress is brand new and fits neatly on top of the 140cm x 190cm bed frame. There is full length storage below which is 30cm in height. The upper bed is 140x140 and our two boys love hopping up to bed on their mattresses (not included) which fit perfectly, leaving ample head space for anyone to sit up below.
Cooking Everyone loves a morning brew and with that in mind there is a kitchen unit which slots easily into place between the front swivelled seats. The brand new single burner is perfect for the job.
Storage The built-in wall cupboards provide excellent storage, a great place to store the brand new insulated curtain panels and also neatly conceal a leisure battery. The easily accessible double 240v sockets are close to the seating area.
Drive-Away Awning The 3m x 2m colour matching awning is a great addition and has an optional internal bedroom. This fits neatly at the rear of the van as well as to one side over either of the sliding doors. It can be zipped up and left standing as you drive away for the day. Previous Owners Although the registration documents say that we are the 3rd owners, the first owner was the garage who sold it on quickly to the 2nd who owned a sports drinks company where it was used mainly for motorway mileage, then us for the soul purpose of renovation.
Additional Information Double sliding doors are rare and exceptionally helpful Another practical extra is its tow bar Mechanically and bodily excellent Good service history main service done at 90000 miles Air Conditioning, electric windows, mirrors, remote central locking and immobiliser Stereo with steering wheel controls Fox commercial alloy wheels
