Regna Cash Register MADE BY Jorgen S.Lien Bergen-Norway

I do not know the history of this cash register but have found a little about the name on the register:

Jørgen S Lien, Sigurd Jorgen Lien, born 2 november 1909, the birthplace of Bergen, died 2 June1982 , death place Bergen.  Industrial Entrepreneur. Parents: Malermester Edward Lien (1876-1923) and Amanda Ludvigsen (1872-1937). Married in 1936 with Inger Johanne Bjørn Vold (19.4.1910-), daughter of the builder Tobias Bjørn Violence (1868-1934) and Anna Hodneland (1871 -- 1949).

Jorgen S. Lien was one of several Bergen entrepreneurs who invested in the development and export of technically advanced hardware and electro-technical equipment in the first post-war years. Competition with major international producers, however, was too hard, and the company went bankrupt in 1971.

After business school in 1928 Lien began his career selling for the U.S. office machine company Remington. Three years later he established a partner agency business Jørgensen & Lien. 1933. he became sole owner, and the company later changed its name to Jorgen S. Lien. It imported and sold office furniture and computers, archive and safe and had their own workshop for assembly and repairs. During World War II began the manufacture of their own safe (Joli-sciences) and computers (rain), the first Norwegian in its kind.

After lengthy development, Lien 1955 launch of the first Norwegian-built electric calculating machine (Adwell). The company invested early in the first American production technologies, the rationalization and automation of production including in collaboration with the technical department at the Christian Michelsen Institute.  The collaboration led to the establishment of BIAS - Bergen-based industrial automation company.  It speaks for itself about the products' technical quality that it failed to build up sales in the United States. Lien lacked technical education, but was known for an outstanding technical intuition.

Expensive product development and manufacturing claimed long series and hence export sales. 1963, 90% of production is exported worldwide. S. Lien was an international set of significant special factory for calculating machines and cash registers; in the late 1960s the company had 1,300 employees at home and abroad.

The cash register til opens and the buttons can be pressed.

There is no key for the til roll.

Overall the cash register is in good condition

It is very heavy so would need to be collected
