Regency Mahogany Triple Wardrobe ca 1830

This beautiful Regency mahogany triple wardrobe / prince’s robe / armoire has one cupboard and four graduating mahogany lined drawers with original turned knobs. The cupboard door is concealed as two drawers and falls forward, the interior has one sliding linen tray and is above a beautiful scrolled carved pediment. The two outer sections have a moulded cornice above a deep frieze, fill length doors with arched moulded panels and beautiful tulip carved corbels (one is very slightly chipped) above rounded tapering columns. The doors have their original handles key and one working lock. Both interior have been recently lined with fabric; have original mahogany turned hanging hooks and the right interior has a lower lift up shelf. The drawer runners are a little worn and the central section of the pediment has an old repair. The piece stands on a plain inverted breakfront plinth, splits into four sections for ease of removals, is a rich red mahogany colour with a striking grain, good patina, is in very good condition and has been beautifully cleaned using a traditional form of wax finishing.

Items of this age and quality are becoming very rare to find and they are not just a beautiful piece of furniture but also a very good investment. A piece of furniture of this quality should sell for around £4000, in a London antique shop it would have a price tag of well over £5000.
