Hair

Emily’s hair is premium quality pale blonde mohair, imported from Australia. It comes from a rare breed of goats, and is the finest, softest mohair you can get. I gave her a lovely sparse mop of rooted hair and it may be styled as shown, brushed forward, or styled in curls, I’ll supply a tip sheet for curly hair so Emily’s new mum will be able to style it as shown here.

I took lots of time with Emily’s hair, micro-rooting with a tiny 42 gauge German forked needle, following the natural direction of a baby’s hair growth to give the most realistic appearance. This takes many hours of work, but the result is worth the effort.

The hair has been sealed on the inside, so can be gently dampened and re-styled. (I will include some of my very popular mohair styling gel and detangling spray, which will keep Emily's hair soft and manageable, please see my other items for these products.)

Emily’s light blonde eyelashes are also micro rooted and sealed on the inside.

Skin

Emily’s face and limbs are realistically coloured to resemble the living skin tones of a very new baby, with mottling and ‘rashy’ looking areas. This has been achieved over several days, using my own colour mixes of very thin, transparent layers of genesis heat set paint to create the realism of a newborn baby. No paint is left on the surface of the vinyl. This technique gives a lovely natural skin tone and feel, with no shine or rough spots.

Her skin is mottled, with blotches and capillaries, just like the skin tones of a very young baby. Even the ears have been realistically coloured.

The inside of Emily’s little nose has been gently coloured to give depth and realism.

All her tiny features are gently shaded to give a lifelike quality to the face, with tiny veining on the wrists, temples and ankles where the skin is thinnest.

I’ve taken photographs in all kinds of natural daylight, and I'm not afraid to show close ups, so what you see is exactly what you get with this baby.

Hands, Feet & Details

Emily’s delicate hands and feet have been gently coloured to resemble the real skin tones of a brand new baby, paying particular attention to the fingers and toes.

The tiny knuckles, palms and soles of the feet have been lovingly painted, with the addition of tiny veins, and shaded wrinkles and dimples.

Even the tiny nails have been manicured and sealed, but she doesn’t have half moons, as new babies don’t have them.

Her tiny mouth has been painted with several layers of transparent colour to give a truly realistic appearance. Her delicate nose and cheeks have been shaded and mottled to look just like newborn skin.

Emily is such an adorable baby, once you take her in your arms, you won’t want to put this baby down. She feels like a tiny newborn baby in your arms. She is just an inch taller than my grandson when he was born. The vinyl is super soft, and her body is perfectly weighted and filled with baby fat, so she feels divine to cuddle.

No wrinkle or dimple has been ignored in creating this beautiful infant.

I have included lots of close up photographs to show you the fine detailed work that goes to make this baby so adorable.

There is nothing left to the imagination.

I couldn’t resist showing how this baby would look at bath time. Her little tummy plate adds so much realism to this adorable infant.

I have taken all of Emily’s photographs in natural daylight. I have taken great care to make sure that all the photographs are a true representation of the natural skin tones and colouring.

Attention to Detail

Emily is made from a Val Shelton, Emily Rose Kit.

She has full arms and legs, and is a newborn size, very cuddlesome, baby.

Emily has a cotton body, made just for her.

This body is fastened to the limbs and head with very fine cable ties to give a strong and durable bond. All the cable joins are enclosed within the seams and hand stitched with strong thread, so you don’t get any ugly plastic bumps on show.

Emily’s body is filled with baby-fat pellets and softest fibre fill, to give a weighty but squishy, baby-feel, and to ensure that she can be posed beautifully.

She wears newborn baby size clothes, and most of the outfits in the photographs have been designed and made by me especially for her.

Her full limbs makes dressing her so easy, as she can wear all kinds of beautiful baby clothes, and she poses so well, too.

Colouring

All my babies are painted with many layers of transparent genesis heat set paints, to create the depth and realism of newborn living skin. My own technique of painting, means that the paint does not 'sit' on top of the vinyl, but becomes part of it, to give a more natural feel and quality. Genesis paints will not fade or rub off.

About the Artist

My background is in art and design, and includes portrait painting, and working as a printed textile artist, with my work being sold in high street department stores in many countries.

I have also worked as a seamstress making wedding gowns and ball gowns, and now enjoy making outfits for my reborns.

I have designed unique rag dolls and fairy dolls and sell the patterns and kits to doll lovers world wide. (Please see my other items on ebay for my ragdoll kits and patterns.)

When I discovered reborn babies, I fell in love. I just had to find out more. After researching the techniques needed to create them, I realised that this was something I could learn to do – I already had the painting skills, as a textile artist I often worked in fine detail, and my work with rag dolls taught me about the essential ‘feel’ of a cuddlesome baby.

Now I have a nursery of tiny darlings, and have sold my babies to some wonderful people all over the world.

Coming Home

Emily will arrive at her new home with a beautiful layette. Most of her ensemble has been designed by me especially for little Emily.

I am an experienced seamstress, and the quality and finish of her outfits is excellent.

The Pink dress and bloomers are of a fine poly cotton, and are trimmed with ivory, embroidered tulle lace, pearl beads, with clusters of ribbon roses and bows.

Emily’s cape and bootees are made in a snugly pink fabric, lined with deep pink satin, and trimmed with real swansdown and organza ribbon.

She will also have a sleep suit, a pampers nappy, lace trimmed socks, a white satin headband and a magnetic pacifier.

Please be aware that Emily has a strong magnet in her head, please note that care should be taken around people with pacemakers and sensitive electronic equipment. (This can be removed if desired.)

A cuddly toy will accompany her on her journey to her new mummy.(Please note that the toy may be different to the one shown in the photographs.)
