Hair
Liala’s’s hair is quality strawberry blonde mohair. It is baby fine, and acts like very newborn hair – standing on end, looking like a toilet brush, sometimes!. This mohair can be styled beautifully with a little detangleing spray and gel from my Ragdoll-Fairy range – Please see my other items here on ebay.
I first painted a layer of very fine hair, all over the head, as this gives depth and adds another dimension of realism to this baby. I then gave Liala a lovely lush, baby mop of rooted hair.
I took lots of time with Liala’s hair, micro-rooting with a tiny 42 gauge German forked needle, following the natural direction of a baby’s hair growth to give the most realistic appearance. She has the popular crown swirl – rooted to swirl naturally, (you can see this is not a comb over!) This takes many hours of work, but the result is worth the effort.
The hair has been sealed on the inside, so can be gently dampened and re-styled.
Liala has the most darling tiny baby wispy eyelashes of the same mohair, microrooted and sealed on the inside.
Skin
Liala’s face and limbs are realistically coloured to resemble living skin. This has been achieved over several days, using very thin, transparent layers of genesis heat set paint to create the realism of a newborn baby.
I gave Liala a mottled complexion, just as you’d expect for a newborn baby. Her ears have been coloured to emphasise her fairy origins!
The inside of Liala’s little nose has been opened and backed with dark felt, so she can breathe. This adds even more depth and realism.
All her features are gently shaded to give a lifelike quality to her face, with tiny veining on her wrists, and where her skin is thinnest.
Please enjoy the next few photographs, but be aware that they are larger than life size. I’m not afraid to show magnified pictures of this baby. What you see is exactly what you will get.

Hands and Feet
Liala’s delicate hands and feet have been gently coloured to resemble the real skin tones of a new baby, paying particular attention to the fingers and toes.
Her tiny knuckles, palms and soles of the feet have been lovingly painted, with the addition of tiny veins, and shaded wrinkles and dimples.
Even her tiny nails have been manicured and sealed.

Liala is such an adorable, cuddlesome baby, once you take her in your arms, you won’t want to put her down.
No wrinkle or dimple has been ignored in creating this beautiful infant.
I have included lots of close up photographs to show you the fine detailed work that goes to make this baby so adorable.
There is nothing left to the imagination.
I have not cluttered the photographs with elaborate props, as I believe this baby doesn’t need them to show her off.

I have taken all of Liala’s photographs in natural daylight, which is why some are darker than others. I have taken great care to make sure that all the photographs are a true representation of her colouring.
Attention to Detail
Liala has 3/4 arms and legs, and is a newborn size baby. She is a real armful of newborn cuddles.
She has a cream cotton, jointed body.
This body is fastened to the limbs and head with very fine cable ties to give a strong and durable bond. All the cable joins are enclosed within the seams and hand stitched with strong thread, so you don’t get any ugly plastic bumps on show.
Liala’s body is filled with baby-fat pellets and softest fibre fill, to give her a weighty but squishy, baby-feel, and to ensure that she can be posed beautifully.
She wears newborn size baby clothes.
Liala feels divinely soft and cuddlesome when you hold her in your arms.
Once you hold her, you really will find it hard to put her down. She snuggles into your arms just like a real life sleepy baby.

Colouring
All my babies are painted with many layers of genesis heat set paints, to create the depth and realism of newborn living skin. These paints will not fade or rub off.
Weighting
My babies limbs have been weighted with the tiniest glass beads – or glass dust – that fills all the little fingers and toes, to give a realistic feel to their hands and feet. They are then topped up with finest quality fibre fill, and sealed with silicone to keep everything safe inside.
The bodies are filled with baby-fat and fibrefill in all the right places, to give a weighty, squishy, cuddlesome feel – just like a newborn baby.
The heads are filled with polly-pellets and fibrefill, and their little heads will need support, just like a real newborn baby.
About the Artist
My background is in art and design, and includes portrait painting, and working as a printed textile artist, with my work being sold in high street department stores in many countries.
I also design unique rag dolls and fairy dolls and sell them to doll lovers world wide.
When I discovered reborn babies, I fell in love. I just had to find out more. After researching the techniques needed to create them, I realised that this was something I could learn to do – I already had the painting skills, as a textile artist I often worked in fine detail, and my work with rag dolls taught me about the essential ‘feel’ of a cuddlesome baby.
Now I have a nursery of tiny treasures, and have sold my little darlings to some wonderful people all around the world.
