"JOE" before he was G.I. Joe

Here is a rather unusual and rare figure from this wonderful series of comic, ethnic and occupational character figures, circa 1921, made in Amriswil, Switzerland by A. Bucherer (SABA) he is, 8" tall, with a perfectly molded and painted, composition swivel head, very good coloring, large composition (perfect) hands and fantastic, all metal jointed body and large feet to stand and pose well. He is signed on the front: Made in Switzerland/Patents (different mark than the usual one) and all his joints work well. He has a swivel head with very thick molded black or dark brown curly, side-parted hair, dark mustache and well molded features. What makes him so unusual is that there is an extra original round metal ball joint in his back.  Is he a prototype or patent design example? None of the many figures from this company that we have ever come across have this feature. He is undressed and in excellent condition with no damages, no cracks, chips or wear and no repaint.
