What a rare and beautiful early1800's Georgian stomacher brooch with an impressive 31 old rose cut natural zircons
Set in a substantial (silver acid tested) gilt setting.
The bottom drop either has evidence of an old wash.
Early replacement, just wanted to mention for quality assurance purposes, although it looks just the same as the rest...pics below.
It has typical T-hinge and C-clasp backing ,and as was the style in that era it is silver front and rose backed .
It weighs a hefty 35 grams and is sizable measuring 7 /12 cm by 7 1/2 cm with drop.
It is most likely Spanish/ Portuguese in origin and dates from the late 1790's - early 1800's.
The stomacher style brooch is classified as a large triangular piece of jewelry worn on the bodice and extending below the waistline.
A popular 18th century style.
This is most impressive and incredibly rare.
