Rare Cantagalli Italian Majolica Wall Plaque of a Cherubic Boy

Measures 7.5" diameter (19cm), weighs 600g unpackaged.

Ulisse Cantagalli was an Italian artist and ceramicist producing wares from around 1878.  This plaque is in the renaissance style inspired by Luca Della Robbia a famous sculptor from Florence c1400-1482 who made terracotta roundels frequently featuring religious icons.

To the back are the impressed marks of a cockerel and 'Cantagalli Firenze'.

There is some slight chipping and paint loss on this plaque.  Areas round the rim have been affected as have sections of the boys hair and fingers.  The white paintworkis a little bubbly and crude in places.  There is a small firing crack to the top rim of the plaque but this does not look structural or severe.  Otherwise the plaque is in good condition with no other damage.

Will be sent well packaged by a signed-for, trackable and insured postal service.
