Rare Art Deco Walnut Radial Extending Dining Table

Description:
This is a fabulous rare original Art Deco radial walnut veneered and burr walnut banded radial extender extending four leaf oval dining table of very unusual form.  The table stands on a classic four pillar base with moulded rails and shaped feet, with square form pillars with very decorative moulded panels rising over which is the radial veneered and radial extending top with a classic oval shape.  There are the radial walnut veneers cross-banded in blonde burr walnut with a cross-banded edge.  The four leaves clip into place on the sides having pull-out extensions, you can see the handles for the pull-out extensions below.  There are four beautiful leaves which extend the table which doubles its size.  When closed, without the leaves, the table would make for a great centre table or small breakfast table.  The leaves match beautifully with the veneers matching the radial extensions.  Each leaf is numbered so that they slot into their correct position and lock into place with metal clips, the extending bars locking into place.  When fully extended the table would comfortably seat eight people and possibly up to twelve.  The radial veneers beautifully match through the leaves and table centre.  A fabulous original piece of Art Deco furniture. There is a matching set of 8 chairs that we also have for sale (Our Ref. 6023).

The table dates circa 1920s - 1930s.

Condition:
The table is in very nice original condition, retaining much of its original finish although the table has had some re-finishing to the top, including the leaves, the original finish retained below having been cleaned and rejuvenated.  There is one small repair to the veneer work in the very centre of the oval table, otherwise in beautiful condition for its age.  There are some minor tiny veneer chips on the edges where the leaves meet with minor distress marks and one or two surface scratches.
