This is a very rare Abner Drury Brewery Inc Washington D.C Beer case. The case reads FRONT & BACK: " ABNER DRURY BREWERY INC. WASHINGTON D.C. PHONE WEST 0435-6." On the sides it reads "ROYAL PILSEN OLD GLORY" And on the inside it reads: " ROYAL PILSEN OLD GLORY" On both sides. But on one side inside it also has an interesting stamped LOGO that reads " ONIZED CONTAINERS MANUFACTURED BY OWENS ILLINOIS GLASS COMPANY FAIRMONT W. VA." I added a close up photo of the GLASS LOGO.
This is a Classic wood crate of Early American beer History and I understand Royal Pilsen was the first even before Budwiaser rolled into Washington D.C after Probation ended.
The box is 18.5 inches long 12 inches wide 11 inches tall.
Seems everytime I decide that listing some items on eBay is not worth the time and effort I get proven wrong in a BIG WAY. I was getting ready to burn this crate along with several other old wiskey boxes. But I ran across someone who collects old wood crates and when I saw what he did with them I was shocked at how nice a display they make in bars on walls and even table Art as well as some other special displays. Seems a lot of folks will take them apart and work the old crates in counter tops as well. Surrounded by rich new wood and layers of clear rosin and in the middle one side of an old beer crate LOOKED NICE! I saw an entire wall that was made with years of collecting old wine boxes. It was a very impressive display. And much better than wall paper. WHO KNEW!

PROBLEMS! This is a very old crate Needs cleaning. The wood in in very good condition BUT There is one board on the bottom that is rotted and the metal strap is rusted away in that area. I included a close up of the bad BOTTOM CORNER. Also it looks like at one time it was around white paint and has some paint drippings on it. it may also be plaster. I think most of it will come off easy. But I will leave that cleaning for the collector to decide.
