Rare ANCIENT Greek Terracotta Figural Group Eros pulled by OXen

Choice Ancient Terracotta Group~Rare Subject.
4th Century BC.
We are pleased to offer this wonderful Ancient Terracotta Figural Group.
The group depicts a male youth--Eros--seated in a two-wheeled biga being pulled by two young oxen. Eros is seated with his left knee raise and head turned right. The figures are set on a raised oval plinth. Traces of white glaze remain.
The Eros riding an animal was popular throughout the Greek world for roughly three centuries from the 5th to 3rd Century BC.

Material: Hollow Molded Red-buff terracotta.
Height: 3-1/2 in. (9 cm). Height including base 4-1/2 in. (11.5cm).
Length: 3-1/4 in. (8 cm). Length of wood base 4-7/8 in. (12.4cm).
Condition: Intact--no repairs. traces of white glaze. mounted on mahogany base.
Provenance: Estate of Sam Schaefler, NYC.
