Essential Engine parts, (when converting up to the 4.0 or 4.6 engine)
What is this listing for? One spacer plate and blanking plate suitable for converting a early Rover V8 to the later stlye 4.0 or 4.6 ltire engine. This is explained further in detail below.
As the leading supplier of brand new 4.0 & 4.6 litre Rover V8 engines, we have found a great number of customers that wish to convert there existing 3.5, 3.9 or 4.2, to the latest cross bolted 4.0 & 4.6 engine (or maybe even larger capacity variants). This in itself is very simple to do as all things with few exceptions will transfer across from your existing rover V8 with minimal & varying levels of issue, non of which are a problem.
To put this into context we must have supplied over a thousand brand new 4.0 or 4.6 engines worldwide for all capacity and vehicle type upgrades and none have offered any real problems.
The following components have been developed by us (not so difficult really) to overcome the two small, but important issues that this conversion always raises.
Crankshaft spacer. Because the protruding nose of the 4.0 & 4.6 Crankshaft is longer than that of all pre 1994 V8's we have produced this spacer that slips over the nose of the Crank within the pulley-damper & ensures that the crankshaft end-bolt & washer locate's the 'bottom-pulley-damper', by acting as a correcting spacer. Without it the front pulley would have about 2cm's of end-float.
Blanking aluminium disc. Because the 4.0 & 4.6 Brand new engine would normally have a sensor in the rear of the engine block occupying a hole on the opposite side to the starter motor, about half its diameter. It is required to close off this hole as the sensor is not required on conversion's and its absence leaves a small but gaping hole!! Thus we produce this quite simple machined aluminium disc that fits in the gap and solves the problem without worry
