This lovely Russian Porcelain hippopotamus sitting was created by the Scitalis Porcelain Factory located in Astrakhan, Russia, at the mouth of the Volga River.This relatively new factory was started during the period of "perestroika, in 1991.  This splendid realistic looking hippo is approximately 2 1/4" high and 3 1/2" long. It is marked on the bottom with the factory monogram, a stylized Russian "S" (an English "C"), which if you look long enough, recalls th winged dragon, as well as a paper label stating "MADE IN RUSSIA". This beautiful hippo is in mint condition and would be a great addition to your Russian animal collection. Russian porcelain is a great gift idea for special collector you may know.
