Brand new Distributor Drive gear-Pre 1976 and Serp

One brand new distributor drive gear for the Rover V8 engine.

This Drive gear is suitable for:-
Pre 1976 Engines - We have amassed a few surplus brand new (as removed) distributor drive gears for all pre 1976 Rover V8 engines & other later engines using the pre- 1976 type front timing cover.
Serpentine Engines - Also it is correct for the much later V8's that have a crank driven Oil pump, normally know as Serpentine engine and are from 1992/3 onwards.

Not sure if your engine is pre or post 1976? No problem... The simplest way to tell is to remove the distributor from the front timing cover and to look at the end of the drive shaft. If the distributor has a short gear with a male oil pump drive inside of it then you have the pre 1976 style engine. If once removed the distributor has the later drive gear on the end with a female oil pump drive (most noticeable by the wobbly drive on the end of the gear) then you should be looking at our other oil pump listing.

Please note -- The above information is only relevant if your engine is pre 1993, in 1993 onwards the Rover V8 engine could also have the serpentine style front end (and ancillaries). Most noticeable as the oil pump is no longer driven by the distributor, the design was revised and changed to a crank shaft driven oil pump. In this case the oil pump is contained within the front timing cover, these are available if required, please enquire.

For replacement of your standard worn out drive gear or for use with the Mallory Unalite and Dual Point distributor. This drive gear is for pre 1976 and serpentine systems. If you are running a pre 1976 or serpentine timing cover, this is the drive gear that you required.
