The English Leather Rose Company began life aboard a narrowboat which
cruised the inland waterways of England. Although leather roses are a
contemporary product, there is an echo of the ‘roses and castles’ tradition
of the English canals, which prizes authenticity and manual skill.
It
takes me nearly an hour of handcrafting and loving attention to detail
to create each of my leather roses. All the petals are individually cut
and curled from super soft leather, the wired leather leaves are shaped
by hand, and the stems bound in a ribbon of leather. Just as in nature,
no two blooms are identical.
Each rose carries the
'English Leather Rose Co.' leather hanging tag and is wrapped in
cellophane before being placed inside a plain white postal
box.
