RFA Grey Rover A269

2.5 Inch Intermediate Signalling Lantern

The signalling lantern one of two from the bridge and is in as new condition.

This lantern was located on the starboard side of the bridge.

The signalling latern was made by Francis Searchlights Ltd.

The lantern has a variable light output which is controlled via an internally mounted dimmer.

In favorable daylight conditions the lantern has a signalling range of 3 miles. 

The lantern can also be used as a spot light.

The lantern is made of aluminium and is fully waterproof.

The ship was decomissioned in 2006 and this item has not been used since.

 

A BRIEF HISTORY

RFA Grey Rover was one of three small fleet support tankers in the RFA flotilla. She was built by Swan Hunter Ship  Builders and went into service in 1970. Her primary role was to replenish Royal Navy ships with fuel, lubricants, fresh water and dry cargo. She was decommissioned in 2006 and is now being recycled by Leavesley International.

This is a genuine item from RFA Grey Rover A269 and comes with a certificate of authenticity (posted seperately).
