This 1970 3-litter auto red reliant Scimitar GTE is a real star of a car, it has just stared in Louis Melville’s new film, the 2007 production “Man Who Sold The World” (view the film trailer featuring the car from the link http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8dfHER8pBOo ). I am selling the car on behalf of the film company Man Who Films Ltd, the car comes with a letter from the film company that this is the car from the film.
The car has been stored for the last year and has been declared SORN with the DVLA since 31 / 05 / 2007 .
The car has no MOT (see works needed below to qualify for new MOT) , as the car is classed as historic it needs no road tax, the other great thing is that it can be insured as a historic car, we were paying £90.00 per year , so this fun car can be on the road very cheaply. The car is a real head turner and that it has been in a film is a great talking point .
It runs well, we drove it all over the south of England for two months during the filming and it never let us down, it is overall in good order, and has a very low mileage for its year of only 75,982.
Pluses :
the car has an original 70s set of Alloy Wolfreace wheels, which must today be worth at least £500.00 on their own. The car also has a tow bar and cassette-radio. The car comes with its original manual.
Down Side:
The interior is in black and over all in good condition, apart from some small damage to the back of the seats, one missing knob top from the washer switch on the dash, the back window has one broken bracket which needs replacing to make the opening of the back window safe to open. There is a small creak in the passenger door, and some small rust spotting on the chrome bumpers.
The car will need to be picked up on a low loader as it is declared SORN and has no MOT.
I’ve had the car checked out by a garage to see what will be needed to gain it’s MOT and here’s the list of faults which need seeing to before a new MOT can be granted. I have already purchased and fitted a new battery but a new fan belt will be needed and I believe a new water pump also. I understand from the garage that the other repairs, as listed below, will be in the region of £200 maximum, to put this car back on the road fully roadworthy :
- Offside front and rear position lamps not in good working order (not working)
- Nearside rear stop lamp adversely affected by the operation of another lamp
- Nearside front windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid
- Front windscreen washer provides insufficient washer liquid
- Offside front headlamp aim too high
- Nearside inner front body has some corrosion within 30cm of the body mounting which will need some welding.
The car should be viewed, which can be done off road in east London near Brick Lane. Please call me (Louis on 0780 306 5810).
With a little bit of TLC is car can be a cool town runabout or country side cruiser, the 3 litter 2994 CC engine makes it sound great !
Due to the aforementioned faults we are offering this car at the realistic starting of £570.
Good luck bidding on the fun car.
