READING v WIGAN ATHLETIC - English Premier League, January 30th 2007Good friends and enemies from Championship days. Reading began the season hoping "to do as well as Wigan had" in their own first season of the Premiership. While the Royals prospered first time out in the Prem, just as Wigan had, the Latics themselves were already fearing - quite correctly - that a long relegation struggle lay ahead. Happily, they survived on the last day, though sadly at the expense of another old friend from Championship days, the hard-done-by Sheffield United. This game at Reading's Mad Stad ended 3-2 to the Royals, but it was a close call. This mint-condition programme is Reading's usual brilliant colour 84-pager with a cover picture of winger Glen Little, whose season was to end prematurely through injury and a centre-page poster of Reading's American keeper Marcus Hahnemann. There's also a six-page feature on Wigan and then-manager Paul Jewell, plus two pages on past Royals-Wigan clashes. Thanks for looking at this - please take a look around my shop where you may find something else of interest.
