A rare Jacobean Oak Coffer with Original Free Carving to front and sides c1620.
This is a truly stunning original early 17th century coffer in complete original condition. Original plate and lock still in place. Original wire hinges. All original timbers. No additions, restorations or repairs. Original candlebox intact with hinged lid. Constructed entirely with handmade nails. Lovely rich colour with chip carved, pin and nail decorated carving. Very heavy coffer for its size, hewn from thick planks of fossilised oak. A rare and very beautiful jacobean oak coffer in fine original condition.
