RARE British Army: "WW2 SMLE/No4 (JUNGLE) BAYONET FROG"

An very rare WW2 period (Indian made) British Army 1937 pattern JUNGLE WEBBING BAYONET FROG. This frog was specifically designed to accomodate the British Army soldier's SMLE or Spike bayonet. A small cut is present in the top horizontal retaining strap, to alternatively allow the carrying of the spike bayonet. This frog is made of a light green webbing, with light coloured stitching (ie-it has been made from pre-dyed webbing, and not dyed afterwards). This is one of the first types of green coloured frogs used by the British Army in the Far East, and they are now becoming extremely difficult to find. They were quickly superseded by the 1944 pattern (Jungle) frog, which was made from a specially developed, lighter webbing, and notably darker green in colour.
This frog came from ex-British Army stores, and is an Indian-made example. It is unblancoed, and in good condition considering it's age (probably 1943-44 period).
