I have on offer a Rare Torpedo Shape Bottle that was used by J.Schweppe & Co around the 1800's.
These bottles with the pointed base were designed to ensure that the bottle was not left standing upright, the philosophy behind the pointed bottom was to ensure that the bottle was left on its side so that the wired down cork would not dry out and shrink allowing the contents to lose carbonation and or evaporate.
The bottle has the words "J. SCHWEPPE & CO 51 BERNERS STREET OXFORD STREET GENUINE SUPERIOR AERATED WATER"
The bottle has the normal signs of wear one expects of a used item over 120 years old e.g. scratches stains etc, it also has a chip on the mouth of the bottle (see photo), a really good thorough clean may remove some of the stains, this would make an excellent addition to your collection, these J. Schweppe & Co Torpedo Shape Bottles are extremely difficult to find these days.
