       This Genuine Antique Hayat Davudi Tribal Pile Rug from Iran has a Hand Spun, Tribal Grown Wool Pile, Symmetrically Hand Knotted to Two Ply, Undyed, Hand Spun Ivory and Light Brown Wool Warps with Madder Dyed Hand Spun Wool Wefts and Both Sides of the Knot Lay Flat. The Superb Range of All Vegetable Colours Including an Excellent Range of Indigo Blue and Blue Green Tones from a Deep, Almost Midnight Blue in the Ground to Sparkling Azure and Aqua Tones, Madder used with Different Mordants to Create Deep Reds, Red Browns, Soft Crimson and Light Red Tones and the Weld or Yellow Larkspur Plants to Create Jewel Like Yellow and Yellow Gold High Lights.

     The Use of the Symmetrical Knot with Both Sides Flat, Madder Dyed Wefts, Diagonally Placed Serrated Leaf Motifs in the Main Border and Very Angular Hooked S Shapes in the Minor Borders, almost Latticed Form of the Angular Field Design, The Amazing, Rich Range of Vegetable Colours and Superb Abrash which makes the Rug Leap into Life in Different Light Conditions are Obvious Proof of an Origin Among the Small Hayat Davudi Group of the Kashkay Confederation of Tribes All Over the Period 1870 to 1900 and This is a Very Rare Group of Kashkay Tribal Rugs.

     This Highly Collectible, Museum Quality, Antique Kashkay Pile Rug is 1.97m x 1.4m (6ft 5.5 inches x 4ft 7 inches) and in Amazing Condition for its Well Over 110 Years of Age. It has Been Hand Washed, Has Good Even Pile, Has had the Selvedges Rebound at some time in the Past and the Warp Ends Consolidated with a Blanket Stitch for Conservation Purposes and there is one old professional reknotted section less than 4 inches long and 4 knots wide - See the Last Photo - a couple of very tiny reknotted areas, no more than 4 or 5 knots, near the warp ends and a few very small areas of marginally lower pile.
