Japanese Antique Ojime Hand Carved Lacquer.  Traditional bead suspended above the Netsuke.  Nicely detailed. 18mm Diameter.  Traditional Japanese NOH Theatrical 2 Face Mask.  Very Rare find in Ojime!  Details of facial features, hair, expression masterfully carved.  Metal rings not intact.  Hairline cracks. (The flash makes them look worse.)  One bit of lacquer missing at the hairline. Very old and rare. Pre-1868. Likely earlier than 1800.  An enhancement to your collection.  

Netsuke were attached by a chord to the Ojime which loosened and tightened the chord above the compartmentalized Inro.  The chord on which the Inro hung ran under the kimono Obi (belt)  secured in place by the  Netsuke positioned over its stiff fabric edge..  This acted as a secure device to prevent the Inro from detaching from its owner.)
