RARE 21J Hamilton 992 Grade RR Loaner Pocket Watch 1910

This rare piece is a Hamilton 992 Grade pocket watch that was a Railroad Loaner. Watch makers would meet railroad employees at stops just before they were getting checked for time and exchange their loaner watch for the railmaster watch so they could get it up to correct standards and when the train came back the other way he would exchange the loaner and pay for his watch repair.The 21 jewel stem wind/lever set 992 (Grade) movement is signed Hamilton Watch Co. Lancaster, PA. Made in USA 21 jewels 992 (Grade) Double Roller adjusted 5 positions and bears the serial no.781047. The movement is set into a base metal case and is stamped Loaner on the case back. The white round dial is signed Hamilton and features red auxillary numerals above the black Arabic hour markers, blue steel spade hands and a second display window. The dial does have a smallchip and hairline near the 5 oclock hour marker. Not only is this watch a railroad grade movement, but was actually used by railroad employees. This watch was recently cleaned and oiled and runs beautifully. This is truly a must have in your pocket watch collection.
