Harcourt, Inc., 2001. First U.S. Edition Stated. This book is bound in textured gray boards with silver gilt titling on the spine. The boards are in excellent condition with mild rubbing and edgewear. Inside pages are clean, bright and tight. The dustjacket is in excellent condition with mild rubbing, edge and corner wear. Price of $23.00 is intact on inside flap.

Umberto Eco (born 5 January 1932) is an Italian medievalist, semiotician, philosopher, literary critic and novelist, best known for his novel The Name of the Rose, an intellectual mystery combining semiotics in fiction, biblical analysis, medieval studies and literary theory. His 1988 novel Foucault's Pendulum has been described as a "thinking person's Da Vinci Code". Eco is President of the Scuola Superiore di Studi Umanistici, University of Bologna, and an Honorary Fellow of Kellogg College, University of Oxford. In 1992-1993 Eco was the Norton professor at Harvard University.
