Description

An attractive wild flower with bright pink flowers with raggedy petals. Hence it is often known as Ragged Robin, because, just like the bird, it stands out brightly at the start of summer. Plant in damp areas of the garden. Perennial wildflower with thin leaves and tall stems topped with ragged pink flowers. Also known as Shaggy Jacks. Grows to a foot or so high. Found in the wild in damp meadows and wood margins. Flowers May to July. Good for pondside. Good butterlfy plant, particularly popular with white butterflies and the Common Blue. It is the food plant of long-tongued bumblebees and the Campion butterfly, Twin Spot Carpet and Marbled Clover moths.

Sow seeds onto the surface of a good, free-draining, damp, seed compost. Cover with a very fine sprinkling of compost or vermiculite. Place sown container in a coldframe or seal inside a polythene bag.

Prick the seedlings out into individual pots, when they are large enough to handle. Plant the seedlings out the following summer in late summer or autumn in a cold frame.

Outdoor sowing

If your item is lost in the post we will ask you to send us a formal email stating that you have not received your  items. This will help us make a claim from royal mail. Once we receive your email a replacement for  the lost items will be shipped to you.
