A kill-happy general (Oliver Reed) stages a coup and overthrows the government of a Caribbean republic. He assumes power himself, imposes martial law and holds a group of US students captive. A super-hard marine who happens to be in the country at the time stages a daring rescue mission...
Quinessential 80s' violent action trash of high entertainment. You know what kind of movie you're getting almost immediately when Oliver Reed bloodily machine-guns 20 people at a swimming pool. In the same scene, when one of his men breaks a cardinal rule, Reed has the rule-breaker kneecapped and THEN splattered in the back rotor-blade of his helicopter (together with a two-fingered salute!).
After that, it's bang-bang entertainment, in the style of RAMBO (there's even torture via truncheon and electrified bed-springs!). Aha, but what RAMBO didn't have was Oliver Reed - and here Reed gets one of his most 'out there' roles, which is really saying something! It's as if the director gave him the key to the whisky cabinet and just set him loose to do whatever he wanted (he also appears to be genuinely tanked-up in many scenes).
Of course, what 80s' action movie would be complete without big guns, silly dialogue, villains in jacuzzis, and...Cameron Mitchell. Yep, it's him again - this time running around (as best he can) with a machine gun.
Excellent quality Japanese VHS has trailers for NIGHTFLYERS and THE SEARCH OF THE INCA EMPIRE before the movie starts.
***IMPORTANT NOTES – PLEASE READ BEFORE BIDDING***
2ND CLASS POST IN THE UK IS NOT FREE. PLEASE SEE U.K. POSTAGE RATES IN LIST BELOW. INTERNATIONAL BIDDERS WILL NEED TO EMAIL ME DURING OR NOT LATER THAN 48 HOURS AFTER END OF AUCTION FOR CORRECT POSTAGE RATES!!!
RETURNS ACCEPTED, SO LONG AS NOTIFICATION OF PROBLEM IS RECEIVED WITHIN 7 DAYS OF YOU RECEIVING THE ITEM!!!
1) Due to an impending house move, financial considerations, change of priorities, children entering into the equation, etc etc, my videotape collection has to go. That’s why these items are listed to begin with.
2) The videotape format is specified within the item description. Make sure your VHS player can play that format - no refunds will be available if it can't. Also, the spoken language on each respective item is specified - ensure you're aware of this before bidding on the item.
3) Postal costs and specifics on how the item is sent is down to the buyer - if you want it sent recorded, special, packaged a certain way, or via courier, I'm happy to do it – but I emphasise that any costs involved for this are down to the buyer. Items sent via Courier, especially internationally, may incur great expense. Once you are sure of the method you want, I will send a Paypal invoice to reflect this. If you are a non-UK bidder, it would be a good idea to email me before the auction ends or within 48 hours after it ends, so's exact postage costs can be ascertained.
4) If you have won multiple items, then shipping them in one package isn’t a problem. Postal costs for combining would then need to be ascertained, depending on how many items are involved.
5) I will normally send items for UK residents as 2nd Class Standard, and international residents as International Signed For. If you want to select an alternative postal method, then please let me know either while the auction is still running, or within 48 hours of it closing. This allows me to send a fully accurate Paypal invoice quicker. If no word is received within 48 hours after you win, I will assume that you are fine with the methods I mentioned at the beginning of this paragraph, and will send an automatic Paypal invoice .
6) Without exception, all items won will need to be paid in full within 7 days of the auction’s closure.
Above all, ALL VIDEOTAPES I SELL ARE OFFICIAL ORIGINAL RELEASES - ABSOLUTELY NO COPIES OR BOOTLEGS. If any flaws are present which I think will impair your enjoyment of the movie, I’ll point them out in the item description.
