WW028 ¿ Lord Sholto Douglas historic aviators cover, flown by Dakota and signed by two RAF pilots - £4

We've just purchased possibly the last remaining bulk stock of R.A.F. covers from the 1960's - 1990's. These include Historic Aviators, Squadron Series, Museum Series, Escapers, Test Pilots, Bomber Command, Co-Ordinated, DM Awards and many more. These covers have proved to be one of the most popular forms of cover collecting ever. Nearly all of the covers were flown and many of the signatures are now extremely rare. Many of the covers come with information cards and photographs inside. Our stock is second to none - condition is excellent, covers are not sealed down and where applicable come complete with all the information produced at the time.

WE HAVE OUR COMPLETE STOCK LIST OF RAF COVERS IN OUR EBAY STORE- CLICK HERE TO GO THERE AND FIND A BARGAIN!

A BRIEF HISTORY OF THE R.A.F. COVER
The original RAF Museum series of covers was initially conceived at the Ministry of Defence in 1968 and the first covers (the Forerunner series) were produced in 1969. Since then a number series have been produced, with the latest Planes & Place in production. Over the years many charities and private individuals have obtained signed versions either as one off’s at airshows etc. or as part of fund raising activities. There are therefore many  superb covers, some certified  some not, available in the marketplace and the number is increasing as more and more are signed.
Covers were produced in three formats:
A  - Basic unsigned flown cover unless no unsigned were produced, this will be indicated. Later series have insert cards describing the event or squadron depicted.
B - Pilot signed i.e. signed  the pilot, courier or crew members involved in the carriage of the cover.
The best way to check is the name of the crew signature is normally detailed on the flight cachet on the cover. Some may have more than one signature.
C  - The official special signed cover, generally certified on the reverse and often numbered. This will be signed  a VIP connected with the detail on the cover. Later series have insert cards inside the covers with detail on that persons history.
